Bangladesh-China ties to be stronger: Fakhrul

DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said the relation between Bangladesh and China is very strong and it will be stronger in future.

“The existing relation will help expand business between the two countries and it will strengthen the foundation of trade,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the observation in a discussion titled ‘65th founding anniversary of China and 39th diplomatic relation of Bangladesh-China’ at the National Press Club.

Organized by Bangladesh-China Friendship Association, the program was attended by China acting ambassador to Bangladesh as chief guest and the association’s acting President Nazmul Haq Nannu as the chair.

Fakhrul said every Asian country will be benefited by the free-trade relation with China as education, culture, economy and politics of this region are inextricably related with each other.

He said the relation between Bangladesh and China always get importance as both countries get independence after liberation war and they are similar in many ways. These similarities have made the relation deeper.

He further said BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain played an important role in making a strong relation between Bangladesh and China. But, he is now in jail after being a victim of vengeance.

Fakhrul also demanded immediate release of BNP standing committee member Dr Mosharraf Hossain.

BNP joint-secretary general Barkatullah Bulu, BNP chairperson’s special assistant Shimul Biswas and advisor AZM Zahid Hossain, among others, also spoke in the program.
