DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday criticized the government for filing case against its vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.
“Issuing summons against Tarique Rahman after filing case reflects the vindictive character of the incumbent government,” he said.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion in a press release singed by BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He said that an Awami League (AL) leader filed a false case against Tarique and the court summoned him that revealed the violent nature of the AL-led government.
The senior BNP leader demanded the withdrawal of the case and the summons as well.
Earlier, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court summoned Tarique in a case filed by deputy publicity secretary Monir Khan of AL central committee.
