JESSORE: Some 80 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami have been granted bail in the cases filed under explosives and anti-terrorism acts.
They included Jessore town BNP president and also municipality mayor Maruful Islam.
Jessore additional district and session judge Mahmuda Begum passed the bail order on Wednesday.
District BNP general secretary Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on November 16, Jessore Senior Judicial Magistrate court Maruf Ahmed rejected the bail petitions of 43 leaders and activists of BNP and its alliance and sent them to jail after they were produced before the court with bail prayers.
On October 1, Jessore Kotwali police filed a case against over two hundred people naming 123 alliance men following a clash with police during a human-chain program in front of Jessore Press Club.
