NARAYANGANJ: Councillor Moniruzzaman Monir has been elected as the panel mayor-2 of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) on Wednesday beating Selina Islam Beauty, wife of slain panel mayor-2 Nazrul Islam.

Moniruzzaman Monir got 28 votes whereas Selina Islam Beauty got six votes.

Councillor Moniruzzaman was expected to be elected uncontested but Beauty expressed her wish in the monthly meeting of Narayanganj City Corporation to contest for the post.

Councillor Kamrul Hasan Munna from Ward No-18 of NCC confirmed the matter to banglanews.
