‘Hasina is also doing mistake like Bangabandhu’

DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday categorically said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also doing same mistakes that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did.

The BNP leader made the observation while addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club marking the 38th death anniversary of Maulana Bhasani.

National Awami Party (NAP) organised the discussion meeting to find a way out of the enduring political situation following the ideologies of Bhasani.

He said, “Sheikh Mujib formed Baksal after the liberation war instead of forming national unity. Now his daughter Sheikh Hasina is also making the same mistake.”

Fakhrul also criticized the remarks of Sheikh Hasina in which she claimed countrymen not only supported them in the January 5 general election, they also sacrificed a lot.

Claiming that 30 out of 42 political parties did not participate in the January 5 election, he alleged that they (Awami League) snatched away victory by threatening people.

The spokesperson for the party further claimed that most of the people do not know the lawmaker of their constituency.

He said the non-partisan caretaker government system was a resolved issue but they have cancelled the system forcefully and grabbed the power.

The senior BNP leader also said Maulana Bhasani used to love people and always fought against any kind of authoritarianism.

With NAP chairman Advocate Azharul Islam in the chair, the program was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Labour Party president Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran, Islamic Party Chairman Advocate Abdul Mobin and National People’s Party (NPP) President Fariduzzaman Farhad.
