DHAKA: Jubo Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal has been freed on bail from Kashimpur Central Jail on Friday, 21 days after his arrest in a case of hartal violence.

Jailer Amzad Hossain Don told banglanews that Alal was released around 11:40am.

Party leaders and activists congratulated him in front of the jail.

On November 17, the High Court granted one-year bail to Alal and five other Jubo Dal activists in a case filed on charge of planning to carry out subversive activities during hartal on October 26.

On October 30, police conducted a raid at Alal’s Lalmatia residence in city and arrested 67 BNP men, including Alal.

Later on the day, Mohammadpur police filed a case against the detainees under the Special Powers Act.

On October 31, he was sent to Kashimpur Jail.
