DHAKA: A local Awami League leader was killed and seven others were injured in a clash between two factions of the ruling party at Kolakandi village under Titas upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Rezaul Karim Sentu, 44, resident of the area. The injured are activists of Awami League and its youth wing Juba League.
Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Juba League leader Ibrahim and AL leader of the union Habibullah Bahar over establishing supremacy in the area.
Their supporters locked into a clash with locally made weapons around 1:00pm in the area, leaving Rezaul dead on the spot and seven others injured critically.
However, the inured were rushed to local hospitals.
Police sources said that additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.
Officer-in-Charge of Titas Thana Abdul Hannan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
