‘Tarique to return home, if BNP wants’

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia on Sunday said Tarique Rahman will return home if his party wants.

He was addressing a program, on Tarique’s 50th birthday, organized by Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddher Projonmo at the National Press Club.

“We have talked to Tarique and he said that he will return home when the party will want,” he said.

He also called on the party leaders and activists to come on the streets avoiding the fear of being arrested.

The incumbent government is based on falsehood. “We should oust this illegal government by arranging movements with the participation of mass people,” he said.

Addressing the function, another BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said it would be a history when Tarique will return home.

He also claimed that Tarique Rahman is established in Bangladesh politics.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisor Abdul Awal Mintoo and BNP human rights affairs secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, among others, spoke at the program, chaired by Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddher Projonmo president Shama Wajed.
