‘Speaker’s nod needed to arrest Latif Siddque’

DHAKA: State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday categorically said Speaker’s permission is required to arrest Latif Siddique as he is still a parliament member.

The state minister came up with the observation in response to a question from journalists at his secretariat office.

He said, “The law enforcers cannot arrest Latif Siddique without the permission of Speaker as the session of national parliament is underway and Latif Siddique is still a MP.”

In response to another query whether police failed to arrest Latif, Asaduzzaman Khan said, “There are complications in arresting Latif Siddique.”

“I do not know anymore,” the newsmen were told.
