CHITTAGONG: Hefajat-e-Islam has called off the countrywide daylong hartal for Thursday after recently sacked minister Latif Siddique surrendered.

The decision came after a meeting with its leaders in Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari on Tuesday as Latif was sent to the jail.

Press Secretary Munir Ahmed to Hefajat’s Amir Allama Ahmed Shafi told banglanews that they withdrew the hartal considering the law-and-order of the country.

But, they will observe peaceful program till the trial of Latif Siddique is held.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hefajat-e-Islam called countrywide hartal.
