DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday said the misrule of one-party grabbed the roads of multi-party democracy.
“The democracy is now on the brink of collapsing to deep hole and one-party government’s misrule has grabbed the roads of multi-party democracy,” she said.
The BNP chief made the observation in a statement sent to the media from her office on the occasion of Shaheed Dr Milon Day, the 23rd martyrdom anniversary of Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon.
Khaleda said the enemy of democracy has destroyed the democracy.
She urged people to be united against all evil forces to stop conspiracy to destroy democracy.
“The sacrifice of Dr Milon will be successful, if we can make democracy stand on a strong foundation,” Khaleda added.
Khaleda also paid her homage to Dr Milon.
Milon, the then joint secretary general of Bangladesh Medical Association, was shot dead on Dhaka University campus during the movement against former military ruler HM Ershad on this day in 1990.
