AL leader shot dead in Jessore

JESSORE: A local leader of ruling Awami League was shot dead by unknown miscreants at Sheikhhati Jamrul Tala under Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Mahfujur Rahman Khokan, 25, son of Moslem Uddin, resident of Sheikhhati Jamrul Tala, and also Sultanpur Ward Awami League unit’s office secretary.

Sources said Khokan came under the attack around 9:00pm while he was returning home by a motorbike with one of his fellows, Jahangir.

Miscreants, at that time, fired, targeting Khokan, they added.

Later, he was declared dead by doctors after locals rushed the AL leader to Jessore General Hospital.

Jessore Kotwali Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Enamul Haque confirmed the matter.
