RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi University Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) called a dawn to dusk hartal in Rajshahi City for Monday to press home their five-point demands, including the identification of the killers of RU teacher Professor Dr AKM Shafiul Islam and bringing the criminals under trial shortly.

Earlier on Friday, the university unit of JCD, a student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), announced the hartal program during their demonstration in the town.

Moreover, the JCD leaders and activists of four thanas of the metropolitan city brought out several processions on Sunday supporting Monday’s hartal.

The JCD supporters of the university unit also voiced for taking action against the question paper leak, stopping anarchy and ensuring amity in education institutions, protesting ruling Awami League leader HT Imam’s speech on BCS examination and an election in the university’s student council.

However, earlier on November 15, Professor Dr AKM Shafiul Islam of Sociology Department of Rajshahi University was chopped to death by miscreants in front of his residence.
