FENI: A defamation case of Tk 1,000 crore was filed against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman in Feni for making derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Advocate Gazi Tarek Aziz filed the case in the court of Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Alamgir Mohammad Faruqui around 12:00 noon Tuesday under the section 899 and 500 of Penal Code.

Magistrate Alamgir will deliver order in this regard in the afternoon.

However, BNP backed lawyers forum arranged a press conference protesting the case.

District BNP acting president Advocate Abu Taher, organizing secretary Advocate Mesbah Uddin Khan and Sadar Thana BNP president Advocate Syed Mizan also spoke.
