DHAKA: Security measures has been tightened in city’s  Bakshi Bazar and its adjacent area ahead of recording BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s deposition in Zia Charitable and Orphanage Trusts graft cases on Wednesday.

Khaleda is scheduled to appear before a makeshift court, set up at Alia Madrasa ground, to submit her deposition in the cases at 11:00am, her lawyer Sanaullah Mia told banglanews.

Meanwhile, leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organizations began gathering in the area.

To avoid any untoward situations, additional police forces have been deployed in Chawk Bazaar, Dhakeshwari National Temple, Urdu Road, Khaja Dewan Road, Bakshi Bazar Road, Chankharpul, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, and Dhaka University area of the city.

Chawk Bazaar Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abdul Aziz told banglanews police remain fully prepared to prevent any untoward situations in the court premises and adjoining areas.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion and other law enforcing agencies along with plain clothed police have been deployed in the areas.
