BNP stages demo Thursday

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will stage demonstration across the country on Thursday protesting the alleged attack of police and Chhatra League men on BNP chairperson’s motorcade.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement of the protest program in a press conference at their central office in city’s Nayapaltan area on Wednesday.

The party organized the conference to express their stance regarding the clash among BNP, Chhatra League and police centering the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance in the make-shift court at Bakshibazar in the capital.

Fakhrul said BNP will stage demonstration all districts and Dhaka metropolitan protesting the attack where at least 600 people injured and 50 other detained.

The BNP senior leader said the same occurrence took place after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the incumbent government returning from Gazipur’s Kashimpur jail.

They also wanted to attack on the motorcade of Khaleda, but failed because of the stance of the people. But, it is clear that the attack was pre-planned, he added.

Fakhrul claimed that the Awami League government repressed the people who have different opinions. They are also using law enforcers to stop movements.

The acting secretary general also threatened that the incumbent government would be responsible for their activities if untoward situations are taken place.
