DHAKA: At least 50 people including police sustained injuries during a clash between activists of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra League at Bakshibazar in the capital on Wednesday noon.
The clash erupted and spread out in adjacent areas immediately after BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia entered the make-shift court area to appear in graft cases.
Witnesses said Chhatra Dal activists brought out procession when Khaleda entered court premises. In the meantime, Chhatra League activists hurled brick-chips in the procession, triggering a fierce clash.
Police opened blank fire and fired tear shells to bring the situation control.
Jinat, doctor of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said around 50 people were admitted to the hospital and being given treatment.
Lalbagh Thana SI Derik told banglanews that police detained four people from the spot.
