LONDON: Three BNP activists have been detained from Altab Ali Park in East London for their alleged involvement in an attack on UK Juba Mohila Awami League rally on Tuesday.

The identities of the detainees are yet to be known.

Sources said the BNP men were detained following attack on Juba Mohila League’s demonstration protesting BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman’s derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BNP men swooped on the Juba Mohila League leaders with sticks that left some of them, including its London unit president Yasmin Polin and general secretary Snigdha Sazia, injured.

On information, police rushed in and detained the BNP men from the spot while the rest managed to flee the scene, sources said.

On the other hand, the victims alleged that the attack was conducted as per directives of UK BNP president Shayesta Chowdhury Kuddus, general secretary Kaisar M Ahmed and former convener MA Malek.
