150 BNP men sued over Wednesday’s clash

DHAKA: Police filed two cases against 150 BNP leaders and activists over Wednesday’s clashes at Bakshibazar and attack on ruling party MP Chhabi Biswas.

Sub-Inspector of Nilkhet police outpost Saheb Ali filed a case against 60 BNP men on Wednesday night with Shahbagh Thana mentioning 23 names brining allegation of attempt to murder Awami League lawmaker Chhabi Biswas, arson, vandalism, theft and obstructing police from discharging duties.

Another case was filed by Chakbazar Thana Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain against 100 local BNP activists mentioning 70 names on allegation of attacking police.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Chakbazar Thana Azizul Haq said five people were detained in this connection.

On Wednesday, at least 50 people including police sustained injuries during a clash between activists of Chhatra Dal and Chhatra League at Bakshibazar in the capital.

The clash erupted and spread out in adjacent areas immediately after BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia entered the make-shift court area to appear in graft cases.
