DHAKA: Awami League publicity and publication affairs secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Thursday criticized BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia over Wednesday’s clash in Bakshibazar area of the city.

“Khaleda along with her party-men created anarchy in the court area realizing that she is going to be punished in the graft cases,” he said.

He was addressing a human chain organized by ‘Thikana 71 Bangladesh’ in front of the city’s National Press Club protesting BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman’s derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Hasan said Khaleda Zia tried to create anarchy on the day on which she is scheduled to appear before court.

On Wednesday, leaders and activists of her party went to court area with petrol bombs to foil the trial proceedings, they also brought bombs to hospital, the former minister claimed.

With Thikana 71 Bangladesh President Professor Fazlul Haque in the chair, the program was addressed, among others, by Dhaka City Awami League vice-president Abdul Hye, organizing secretary MA Karim and AL’s youth front Juba League organizing secretary Badiul Alam.
