DHAKA: Member of Parliament (MP) of the ruling party Chhabi Biswash is stable who was hospitalized at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and has been treating at the VIP cabin of the hospital.

He was critically injured in an attack near Alia Madrasa in Old Dhaka’s Bakshibazar area on Wednesday during a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal.

Later, both the feuding groups used sticks and threw brick bats to each other which turned into battle field.

The clash was erupted when Khaleda Zia was appearing in a makeshift court set up in Alia Madrasa premises for hearing of two graft cases.

Earlier on the day, attackers hit Chhabi Biswas, the lawmaker from Netrokona-1 constituency, and set fire to his microbus in front of DMCH.

The activists of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, wielding sticks attacked Chhabi Biswas who received serious head injury in the incident.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Chhabi Biswash’s Private Secretary Akash Ghosh said that he will require further treatment and observation.

He requested the agitated BNP activists to not to hit him but they beat him mercilessly; leaving him injured critically, said Akash Ghosh.

However, the MP is stable now but still he is having injuries on his neck and right hand, Akash added.
