DHAKA: Joint General Secretary of ruling Awami League (AL) Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be allowed to hold rally anywhere in the country unless BNP leaders seek apology for their offensive remarks on Bangabandhu.
The AL lawmaker came up with the assertion at a press conference in city’s Dhanmondi area on Saturday.
He said that this the high time for BNP leaders to seek apology otherwise people will boycott all rallies of Khaleda Zia as they did it in Gazipur.
Hanif said that Awami League will not tolerate Tarique’s derogatory comments on Bangabandhu. People refused the Gazipur rally for the falsehood of BNP leaders.
He is also said that BNP chief Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman should seek apology to the nation for making offensive comments on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He also said that BNP’s Monday hartal will be unsuccessful and people will refuse the shutdown as in the previous days.
The ruling AL leader also said that BNP is creating violence and killing people in the name of democracy.
Other senior leaders of the ruling party were also present in the briefing.
