Alal on 3-day remand

DHAKA: A court on Sunday placed Juba Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal on 3-day remand in a case over Bakshibazar clash.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order around 3:00pm in response to 10-day remand plea sought by police Inspector (investigation) Mohammad Ilias of Chawkbazar Thana.

Mohammad Ilias said in the remand plea that Juba Dal activists led by Alal gathered near Fazle Rabbi Hall and was delivering provocative statements there while BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia appeared before the court in the area.

At one stage, the Juba Dal men tried to enter the court breaking the police security frame and also left two police personnel severely injured hitting their heads.

However, police thrown tear shells and opened blank fire to disperse them. But the Juba Dal activists vandalized vehicles in the area.

Police sought remand in the case filled in the connection of the attack.

Earlier on Saturday night, Detective Branch of police and Mohammadpur Thana picked up Alal from his residence at Lalmatia in the city.
