DHAKA: BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the 20-party alliance is observing the countrywide hartal against the fascist incumbent government aimed at restoring the people’s franchise.

The BNP senior leader made the remark in front of main gate in BNP central office in city’s Nayapaltan around 7:10am Monday.

“The ‘Bakshali’ incumbent government left no choice to the people. So, they want demonstration called by BNP. To fulfill the people’s demand they enforced the day long hartal,” he said.

Rizvi said the people have rendered their full support to the hartal closing the transport and shops since morning that proves they do not want this current government.

If there have democracy in the country the government did not arrest opponent leaders and activists and gave permission to Gaziur rally, the alliance would not enforce hartal, the senior BNP leader added.
