DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said the pickets, who killed a female school teacher on Monday in Noakhali, would be detained shortly.
The ill-fated teacher, Shamsunnahar, 37, mother of two children, hailed from Lakshmipur district was killed on Monday morning when pickets hurled brick chips at a covered van carrying her in the district town during the countrywide hartal enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The minister said the incident is very tragic. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali to take immediate legal actions against those pickets.
The guilty people should be brought under law immediately, he added.
He also said that the government is concerned and looking into the matter.
The education minister came up with the assertion and expressed his deep shock in this incident while he was talking to the journalists at the secretariat in city on Monday.
Nahid said that the female teacher came out from her home for an emergency but she was killed brutally in hartal violence.
Asking the hartal supporters he said, “Who is safe to them?”
Nahid said that hartal is proved ineffective to the education, students and also to the nation.
He also demanded to stop such destructive movements keeping the future of the new generations in mind.
