DHAKA: Two cases were filed against some 50 BNP-Jamaat men over killing a female teacher during the violence of BNP-led 20-party alliance called hartal in Noakhali district.

Sudharam Thana Sub-Inspector Masud Alam filed the cases under Special Power Act on Tuesday.

The teacher, Shamsunnahar, 37, mother of two children, hailed from Lakshmipur district was killed on Monday morning when pickets hurled brickbat at a covered van carrying her in the district town during the hartal.

Noakhali Police Superintendent Ilias Sharif confirmed the matter to banglanews.
