DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on a two-day fresh remand in a case filed with Turag Police Station for creating anarchy in city’s Bakshibazar area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the remand order after he was shown-arrested in the case.
Earlier in the day, the Detective Branch (DB) of police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea after completion of a three-day remand in another case filed over Wednesday's Bakshibazar violence.
Police earlier showed Gayeshwar arrested in the case filed with Shahbagh Police Station over the attack on ruling party’s Netrakona-1 MP Chhabi Biswas on the Dhaka Medical College Hospital premises.
Earlier on Friday, DB Police picked him up from a house in city’s Siddheshwari area.
On Wednesday, hundreds of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists locked into a clash with BNP activists who gathered in Bakshibazar area to stage a showdown centering BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s appearance at the makeshift court in two graft cases in Bakshibazar.
