Defamation case against Chumki dismissed

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday dismissed the defamation case filed against state minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki for her remarks against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.

The Judge of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court SM Ashiqur Rahman dismissed the case after hearing at noon.

Earlier in the morning, Advocate Sabina Yasmin Choudhury, law affairs secretary of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, woman’s wing of BNP, filed the lawsuit with the Dhaka CMM Court.

On December 30 of 2014, Chumki termed Khaleda as the ‘most-failed leader’ and Tarique as the ‘most stupid’ at a discussion in Kaliganj of Gazipur.
