AL to hold rally at 16 spots in city on Jan 5

DHAKA: Terming BNP leaders and activists as “Paper Tigers” incumbent Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif on Friday said they would not be in the field on January 5 though they are now threatening the government.

He made the assertion while briefing the media after a joint meeting in AL president’s Dhanmondi political office in city in the evening.

The AL spokesperson said that they will observe victory rally across the country including 16 spots of the city in the afternoon on January 5.

Criticizing the stance of BNP in January 5 national election, he said the party was formed out of conspiracy.

“BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and his fellows were conspiring to make the country a failed state during the election time, he added.

“But now the country has been developing day by day through the victory of democracy which the international communities are also acknowledging,” he added.

The AL spokesperson also said January 5 national election was “the constitutional obligation”.
