CHITTAGONG: An Awami League (AL) activist was shot dead by miscreants in Kanchana Fultala area under Satkania upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jamal Uddin, 32, son of Badi Alam.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania Thana Khaled Hossain told banglanews that four miscreants riding on an auto rickshaw fired indiscriminately at Jamal and his fellows while they were gossiping in the area, leaving Jamal dead on the spot.

Chittagong South district AL general secretary Mafizur Rahman said there is longstanding dispute between the Jamaat-e-Islami activists and AL activists.

The Jamaat activists killed Jamal over previous enmity, alleged the AL leader.

He also alleged that a local Jubo League activist, Alam, is also missing since the firing.
