Khaleda cordoned at Gulshan office

Dhaka: Huge numbers of law enforcers have cordoned the Gulshan office of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia where she has been under high surveillance since Saturday midnight.
 
Police men wanted to guide Khaleda up to her nearby Gulshan residence, but Khaleda wanted not to move with them. She is literally house arrested at her office, claimed her press secretary Shimul Biswas.
 
In a small press briefing he told journalists that Khaleda urged the people of the country to observe the declared program for January 5, the anniversary of general election which BNP chairperson terms as the day of killing of democracy.
 
BNP chairperson is scheduled to join the party programs declared to observe the day. Ruling Awami League has also called citywide demonstrations in observance of the day of January 5 which it terms as the day of Victory of Democracy.
 
Meanwhile a group of police from detective branch have picked up BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from the party's central office in Naya Paltan Saturday midnight. Sources sid Rizvi has been taken to a city hospital, but it could not be confirmed from any official source.
