DHAKA: Infuriated over Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) ban on gathering, leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) will take position and stay alert in every ward of Dhaka city.
The party decided to hold no rally in the city on Monday due to DMP’s ban.
AL Joint Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Sunday told banglanews that AL will hold no rally violating laws and DMP’s ban.
Hanif, however, was hopeful that they would get permission to hold rally on Monday.
If not, the party leaders and activists will remain alert wherever they stay, he added.
Dhaka city unit general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said they are respectful to law.
Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhattra League will also stay alert across city as elsewhere in the country, if no rally is hold on Monday, Chhatra League president Siddique Nazmul Alam told banglanews.
On Sunday noon, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed ban on all kinds of gatherings, processions and rallies across the city until further notice to avert untoward situation, effective from 5:00pm Sunday.
DMP’s ban came after ruling AL and its political rival BNP called rallies in the city on Monday.
