DHAKA: Riot police have been also added with the additional security forces in front of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Sunday noon.

The security has been boosted up as BNP chairperson is scheduled to join the party programs declared to observe the day.

Ruling Awami League has also called citywide demonstrations in observance of the day of January 5 which it terms as the day of Victory of Democracy.

However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed ban on any kind of meeting, procession and rally in capital until further notice starting from 5:00pm Sunday to avert untoward situation.

Police also detained at least 10 BNP activists including pro-BNP lawyers - Arifa, Jesmin Aktar, Eliza Akter, Nasrin and Laily following a clash with the BNP men at city’s Gulshan area.

After the incident huge numbers of law enforcers have been deployed in the area.
