AL won't stage rally Monday

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League has decided that they will not stage rally in the city on Monday due to ban and the leaders and activists of the party will remain alert to avert any subversive situation.

Publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud made the disclosure in a press conference at AL president Sheikh Hasina’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi on Sunday.

The AL senior leader alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has made a plan to create subversive situation in the city sitting at Nayapaltan office.

But, now she is doing the terror attack across the country from Gulshan office as her previous plan failed.

He also claimed that a local Krishak League leader, M Idris, 32, was killed and four others were injured as a bomb was exploded in city’s Islambagh area in the afternoon as part of the plot of Khaleda.

Hasan Mahmud also claimed that BNP chairperson is also meeting with the party leaders.

He said the AL decided to postpone the programs marking January 5 terming it as day of democracy paying respect to the law.
