Police foils BNP rally in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG: Police foiled the pre-scheduled rally of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the port city on Monday.

Police opened fire bullets and teargas shells to disperse the leaders and activists of the party following clashes at 4:00pm in front of BNP office in the port city.

The BNP-led alliance arranged a rally making a makeshift stage on a truck at noon. Port city unit BNP president Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Chittagong district (south) unit president Zafrul Islam, district (north) BNP convener Aslam Chowdhury, former whip Syed Wahidul Haque and other local leaders were present at the program.
