DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is confined at her Gulshan political office for the third consecutive day on Tuesday as law enforcers kept the exit gate locked up.
She failed to come out of her office after trying reiteratedly on Monday afternoon. During the time, she fell sick as police personnel sprayed pepper to stop her from trying to come out.
Office sources, however, confirmed banglanews that she has recuperated.
BNP-led 20-party announced to mark January 5, the first anniversary of 10th general election, as ‘Democracy Killing Day’ by staging a rally in city.
Khaleda Zia took position at her Gulshan political office at 11:40am of January 3 and later tried to go at Nayapaltan central office.
But, law enforcers obstructed her by cordoning off her political office, alleged BNP.
Meanwhile, ruling Awami League announced to stage rally around the country including 16 spots in city to mark January 5, the ‘Victory Day of Democracy’.
Due to these overlapping political programmes, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed a ban on all kinds of rally and demonstration in city from January 4 (Sunday) afternoon.
