Taimur among 10 BNP men injured in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ: At least 10 BNP leaders and activists, including district unit president of the party Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker, sustained injury as they locked into chase and counter-chase with law enforcers Tuesday morning.

During the clash, Police detained five people, said a spot account.

Witnesses said local BNP brought out a procession at Khanpur area of the city led by Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker, city BNP secretary ATM Kamal and city Jubo Dal convener Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed as part of the countrywide non-stop blockade, called by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Police tried to obstruct the procession while the BNP leaders tried to move Chasara area. At a stage, police charged batons and opened blank fire to bring the situation under control, leaving 10 BNP men including Taimur injured.

The BNP men also blasted five-six cocktails aiming the law enforcement agency personnel, witnesses added.

Officer-in-Charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model Thana Manjur Quader told banglanews that the police have held five people from the spot. The situation is under control now, he added.
