DHAKA: BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday alleged that incumbent Awami League government is trying to kill his party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Rizvi, who is now undergoing treatment at city’s Apollo Hospitals, was talking to banglanews over telephone in the morning.
He said the motives of confining Khaleda to office and using pepper spray by keeping her under lock is a bid to kill her (Khaleda) only.
Khaleda has become seriously ill that made BNP leaders worried across the country, claimed Rizvi.
He urged United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and other human rights organizations to take the issue of Khaleda’s confinement seriously.
Rizvi also called the party leaders and activists to wage movement across the country to rescue the party chairperson.
Khaleda Zia has been confined to her Gulshan’s political office in the city for the third consecutive day as law enforcers have been keeping the exit locked up since Sunday.
Being failed to emerge out of her office, Khaleda announced a nationwide blockade for indefinite period, beginning from Monday.
