BNP’s hartal underway in 3-dists

DHAKA: Dawn-to-dusk hartal in three districts—Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj—enforced by local units of BNP is underway on Tuesday.

Rajshahi: District BNP enforced the day-long hartal protesting the death of Majir Uddin, hailed from Baneswar under Puthia upazila, whom they claimed as their activists.

Hartal and blockade supporters vandalized a truck and set fire to it in front of Fruit Research Institute in Motihar Thana early Tuesday.

Besides, city BNP leaders and activists brought out a procession supporting the hartal and took position at Bhubanmohan Park.

Meanwhile, three cases were filed against 7,000 20-party leaders and activists including Charghat Upazila Chairman Abu SAyeed Chad, who is also a president of upazila unit of BNP under killing act explosives act.

No inter-district buses left the city while local buses, human haulers and other local engine run vehicles were seen plying on city roads.

Four platoons of BGB members along with police members were deployed at important intersections of the city to thwart any untoward incident.

Chapanawabganj: Sawn-to-dusk hartal, called by district BNP, is underway protesting the death of a 20-party activist and 50 others injured.

Meanwhile, the upazila administration imposed section 144 in the Kansat Bazar area.

Jamaat-Shibir activists brought out a procession at Boroindara intersection. Later, they vandalized several electricity-run vehicles.

Meanwhile, the blockade supporters blocked the Kansat-Choudala road and Chapa-Sona Masjid highway by placing logs across the roads.

Additional police members were deployed at important intersections of the town to thwart any untoward incident.

Natore: District BNP enforced day-long hartal on Tuesday protesting the death two party activists Monday morning.

Law enforcing agency personnel were seen alert at various important intersections of the town.

Rakib and Raihan were injured critically during a clash between local Awami League and BNP activists at Tebaria area of the town.

They were rushed to Natore Sadar Hospital but doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Local BNP claimed them as their activists and called the hartal.
