Police-JCD clash on Sylhet-Dhaka highway

SYLHET: A group of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists, student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), locked into clashes with law enforcers in South Surma upazila in Sylhet.

The clashes took place Tuesday morning on Sylhet-Dhaka highway in Telia area of the upazila.

Witnesses said that a group of JCD activists tried to block the highway and blasted 4 cocktails. They also vandalized 10/12 vehicles.

On information, police rushed to the place and fired bullets and teargas shells to disperse the activists.

Confirming the matter to banglanews South Surma Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Fazal said that police has disperse the activists who were trying to block the highway.

Nobody has been arrested yet in this connection, he added.
