DHAKA: A person was detained while leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, locked into clashes with police in Shajadpur area of the city on Tuesday.

The detainee was identified as Nazrul, a Shibir activist.

Witness Shahadat Hossain Sumon told banglanews, Shibir-men brought out a surprise procession in the area around 11:45am and vandalized several vehicles there.

Police rushed to the spot and gave them a chase. They also fired several rounds of rubber bullets and teargas canisters and nabbed a Shibir-man from the spot.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Gulshan Thana Operation Officer Sheikh Sohel Rana said situations remain calm now.
