THAKURGAON: District BNP started observing hartal in Thakurgaon immediately after Detective Branch (DB) of police detained BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday afternoon.

The hartal would be observed till Wednesday 6:00pm.

Earlier, the BNP senior leader was detained from National Press Club area on Tuesday afternoon.

DB police arrested him moments after his motorcade went out the press club premises at 4:10pm.

First he was taken to the DB office at city’s Kakrail Road at 4:20pm and later shifted to DB Headquarters.

Before the arrest, the BNP senior leader briefed the media.
