DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) joint secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi termed the arrest of their party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as ‘shameful’.
This incident will be a terrible example in history, he added.
Rizvi, who is admitted to Apollo Hospitals in the city under police protection, expressed his anguish to banglanews just after the arrest of Mirza Fakhrul on Tuesday.
Condemning and protesting the arrest, the BNP leader strongly demanded the immediate release of Fakhrul.
According to Rizvi, the insulting attitude of the ruling Awami League-affiliated journalists to BNP acting secretary general will be considered as a black chapter in the glorious history of journalism in Bangladesh.
Moreover, BNP joint-secretary general criticized the arrests of other party leaders and activists and attacks on them as well during the ongoing nationwide blockade, imposed by BNP-led alliance from Tuesday.
He also demanded the immediate release of all of the leaders and activists across the country.
