DHAKA: The ruling Awami League (AL) declared to celebrate ‘Victory Day of Democracy’ on January 10 merging it on ‘Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day’ as the party postponed the previous program scheduled for January 5.
The AL leaders made the declaration in a meeting on the preparation of ‘Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day’ at AL central office in city’s Bangabandhu Avenue, organized by Dhaka Metropolitan unit of AL on Tuesday evening.
AL joint-general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dhaka Metropolitan AL general secretary and also disaster management and relief minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and food minister advocate Qamrul Islam, among others, were present in the meeting chaired by Dhaka Metropolitan AL acting president MA Aziz.
Hanif said that the programs on ‘Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day’ on January 10 will be festive.
He also hoped that people of the country will also come forward on the day as they did on January 5.
The minister also thanked the nation for their cooperation with the administration in preventing the ‘evil-force’.
Maya said none, who will defame Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be allowed to rally in the country.
The food minister Qamrul remarked that all, who will try to create sabotage in the country on the day (January 10), will be detained.
He further said that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman will drag down his party taking haughty decisions.
