GAIBANDHA: Blockaders vandalized some 50 vehicles in Maheshpur area under Palashbari upazila of the district on Thursday, the third day of the nationwide indefinite rail-road-waterway blockade, called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Witnesses said the picketers hurled brickbats and chips aiming vehicles on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in the area from morning to 12:30pm.

On information, law enforcers rushed to the spot but could not nab anyone as they fled the scene immediately after attack.

Besides, the blockaders put barricade on on Gaibandha-Polashbari road by setting fire on tyres and staged demonstration.

Polashbari Thana Officer-in-Charge Mojibur Rahman said that Police, RAB and BGB personnel are kept alert at several places of the district to avert any untoward situations.
