DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad, also former President of the country, on Wednesday said sometimes he feels like spitting the prevailing politics in the country.
“Due to present political culture, people are suffering from hunger if they stay at home and sustaining petrol bomb injuries if they go out for work,” he said.
The JP chief made the observation while addressing the Dhaka City (south) Jatiya Juba Sanghati conference at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in city.
“People are asking us (politicians) to spare their lives. But, due to our blindness to assume power we failed to listen to their cry,” he said.
He said, “Sometimes I feel like spitting this type of politics and leave it forever.”
Ehrshad also said petrol bombs cannot bring democracy in the country, adding that this type of politics has to be swept away from the country.
With city (south) Jatiya Juba Sanghati president Haris M Abul Bashar in the chair, the program was also addressed, among others, by JP Secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, party presidium member Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Sunil Shuvaroy, and Juba Sanghati president Advocate Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan.
