Govt. busy executing hidden deals with neighbour: BNP

DHAKA: Opposition BNP Secretary-General Khandaker Delwar Hossain Thursday fired a broadside at their political foes as he alleged that the government is busy executing “hidden deals” with a neighbouring country.

"The Awami League government did not give anything new to the nation but extortions, land grab, terror, murder, kidnap in the last 19 months,” said the BNP leader.

He came up with the swinging criticism while talking to journalists after placing floral wreaths at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman, along with leaders of Jatiyatabadi Swecchasebak Dal, BNP’s front organization, at Sher-e-Banglanagar.

He thinks that the gulf of distance between the government and the people was widening as the government has failed to run the country properly.

Delwar alleged that the government weakened country’s economy but resorted to scaling up “torture on opposition leaders and activists to divert public attention”.

Senior Joint Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Swecchasebak Dal president Habibunnabi Sohel and General Secretary Sarafat Ali were present.
