Mojaheed sent to jail after remand

DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahasan Mohammad Mojaheed was sent to jail after his three-day remand in a case filed against him under an anti-terrorism act with Kadamtali police station.

Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Minhaz-Um-Munira came up with the order as detective police inspector and also the investigation officer of the case, Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, appealed for sending Mojaheed to jail hazat.

Moreover, the court rejected bail requests for the Jamaat leader.

Mojaheed’s lawyer advocate Abdur Razzak told banglanews24.com.bd, “The court directed the jail authority to ensure better treatment for Mojaheed as per the jail code.”

Earlier on July 23, Mojaheed along with Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Mizami and Nayeb-e Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee were shown arrested in the case filed with Kadamtali thana on May 23.

Earlier, the Jamaat bigwig was arrested on June 29 on charge of hurting religious sentiments. He is also an accused of several charges, including war crime.
