Jubo League leader shot dead in city

DHAKA: A Dhaka City Jubo League leader was shot dead in city’s Sheorapara area on Sunday night, few days after a young leader of the ruling party was slain in Segunbagicha area.            

The deceased was identified as Mamun Hossain, 25, convener of No-9 unit of the city Jubo League under 39 Ward.

Mirpur Thana police recovered the bullet-riddled body of Mamun, son of Ammanullah of Ramdasi in Chandpur district. An artist by profession, he also ran a shop in Karwanbazar area.
 
According to witnesses, some unidentified assailants gunned down Mamun near Ikara Restaurant at about 11:30 pm and fled the scene.

On information, police recovered the body at about 00:30am and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

The killing remained clouded in mystery as police said motives behind the murder “could not be known immediately”.

Mirpur Model thana OC Kazi Wazed Ali said there was no criminal case filed against Mamun with the police station. But, he was the plaintiff of a case filed with Tejgaon thana, near his business place.
 
The Juba League leader’s killing took place while the death of Ibrahim Ahmed of Segunbagicha area from pistol fire on August 13 remained a mystery.
