Attack on BNPÔÇÖs motorcade in Jessore: 20 injured

JESSORE: A ‘terrorist’ attack on BNP’s motor rally greeting people in post-eid pageantry left 20 leaders and activists of the opposition party injured here Monday.

The attackers also vandalized some 17 cars, sources said.

A number of leaders-activists, including Shamsur Rahman, vice- president of the district BNP, Khairuzzaman Madhu, president of Sharsha upazila unit, and Hasan Jahir, general secretary, joined the jubilation march.

Shamsur Rahman told banglanews that the leaders and activists of the party paraded different areas with over two hundred motorcycles and microbuses for giving Eid greetings to the commoners.

“A group of terrorists attacked the motorcade at around 12 noon,” he said, blaming ruling party supporters for the attack

They vandalized 17 vehicles during the attack and injured 20 leaders and activists, including Abdur Razzak Mollah, Abdul Quddus and Moshiur Rahamn.

Leaders of the party claimed that some identified ‘terrorists’ attacked the motor rally.

On information, Aslam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Sharsha thana, visited the spot. There has been a conflict between BNP’s ex-central leader Mofikul Hasan Tripti and district vice-president Shamsur Rahman and the attack “might have taken place in a sequel to the conflict”, he said.
